The sustainability is not related to whether a particular forest is composed of hardwoods or softwoods. Sustainability is a function of forest management, not of species or location, so there is no reason to believe that softwoods grown in Africa and Canada are any more or less sustainably managed than the hardwoods grown in those same countries.
Canada Wood is a joint initiative between the Canadian government and timber industry association partners, providing market access and market development services to enhance trade between Canada and offshore markets.
Canada Wood is represented in the UK courtesy of support provided by Natural Resources Canada and Forestry Innovation Investment, together with CertiWood, Coast Forest Products Association, Council of Forest Industries, Forest Products Association of Canada, Ontario Wood Products Export Association, Quebec Wood Export Bureau and Western Red Cedar Export Association.
